Tournament Page
Welcome to the GTO Tournament page where you can find out about game events. We have two kinds of tournaments, hosted Live Tournaments and Play-By-Email (PBE) Tournaments. If you would like to moderate a tournament, please click here to submit the details of your proposed tournament.
Live Tournaments
Live Tournaments work much like they do at game stores or US online poker sites: you gather with other players, the tournament leader assigns the tables, and records your score/results. Typically the Live Tournaments use Sit-n-Go tables for games so there is a small registration price (5/10/15/20 GTO Coins). The top Live Tournament finishers earn GTO Points in addition to the prizes for the individual SnG table wins.
Live Tournaments tend to run for 2 to 3 hours. To participate in a live tournaments you simply show up at the Tournament Lobby at the scheduled times listed below. (Eastern U.S. Standard Time, GMT-5)
February 2nd, 9pm EST Igel Argern
February 7th, 9pm EST Vote for a Tournament
February 16th, 9pm EST Ten Days in Africa
February 22nd, 9pm EST New England
February 29th, 9pm EST Backgammon & Bosworth
PBE Tournaments
PBE Tournaments take advantage of our PBE (asynchronous) games. Instead of all the tournament players meeting at the same time, you play when you and your opponents can. Below is a listing of the different tournaments that are available and the details about them. After the seats are all filled the tournament will begin. Individual games/matches will be added to the top of your Active PBE Games list. Make sure your profile is set to prompt you about your PBE games via email.
While you can play the tournament matches as a PBE game, you can arrange to meet your opponent to play these games in real time (if you are both logged into the game). This is recommended for fast paced games like Guillotine and Backgammon.
While GTO Administrators will see the winner of the matches, some tournaments will be based on other end-game scores so be sure to read the tournament details to find out if other details need to be reported.
