Triple Crown Vegas Showdown

The New Year is just about upon us and we wish to celebrate with a PBE Tournament of Vegas Showdown.

The anticipated tournament launch date is February 1st, 2012 and it is expected to have 3 to 4 rounds of play over a 30 day period. While games can be played asynchronously, the intention is for players to find a common playing time within a week of each match-ups being announced. The purpose of running this as a PBE tournament is not to take advantage of the PBE game format but to run a tournament that is not locked into a single time period and to allow for the potential for this tournament without forcing other players to wait online.

The format of the tournament will be primarily dependent on the number of tournament participants. The expected format will be 4 player games for all rounds. The first round will be a multiple game setup with the first to win 2 games advancing to the next round. First round match-ups will consist of the same players. Consecutive rounds will see the first to win 3 games advancing through. Players are guaranteed to have at least 2 games in this format.

The prize pool for the tournament will be GTO Points equaling 30 times the number of players and that will be divided between the top 3 or 4 participants.

There will be a slight alteration to the format since there are only 8 players. The format will be 4 player games for all rounds (with the exception of the 2nd tier qualifying matches which will be 3 player games). The first round will be a multiple game setup with the first to win 2 games advancing to the Triple Crown round. The remaining first round players will continue in their quest for 2 wins. Only 2 players from each round 1 group will advance to the Triple Crown round. First round match-ups will consist of the same players. The Triple Crown Round will see the first to win 3 games crowned the champion.
