using my gto coins to pay for games for other people

Postby mmd1 » Fri Jul 22, 2011 7:06 am

many of the people i was playing a lot of A&A with on facebook have left gto and never returned once they had to pay to play pbem, including several people that i know personally.

i would like to spend my gto coins to pay for all participants in a game and invite these people to play a regular game with me. currently i have to transfer my coins to them all and it is quite messy and just won't happen. but if i can "shout" them a game it is likely to happen. this should be a win for gto too, i would have thought.

cheers,

If the coins are meant for a game activation there is a way to activate the game through a "give gift" activation. All you need to do is find your friend's profile page using the search function (http://www.gametableonline.com/users/user_search.php). Once you click through to his profile page near the top will be the Give a Gift Activation link.

If the coin transfer is for other purposes such as tournament or league registration, kudos, playing PBE or saving a Live game to the PBE format, just send me an email at captaincoleslaw@gametableonline.com or send me a Private message through the forum and I will gladly help in your request.

Coin transfers by users and covering the PBE game fee for others is on the list of future upgrades.

Will bring back up my suggestion of a Charity account, where anyone can donate when they want ---
This will allow for activations by ppl that can't afford it ----
Transfer of coins to tourney players ---

I have noted mmd1's suggestion, which is a good one.

Work_Bane, with your donation fund idea, how should we determine who cannot afford to pay activation fees?

Noticed some Admin/watchers paying for new player activation on their own --
Someone deciding on their own to do it -- should be able to do it with other ppls money --

Forgot it in last post -- doesn't seem to be an edit anymore --

Ensure someone asking for activation from the fund understands they only get ONE ACTIVATION that way --

Yes, JJ, squatch, and I have all gifted games from our personal GTO coin stash. There may have been others who have also done it, but JJ and squatch were most prolific about it (that I remember). Determining who should be "privileged" enough to receive donated monies may be a different issue. In many cases, my gifts were to people who had been GTO users for some time, had other premium games activated, and/or wanted to participate in a tournament, but couldn't join in a game for lack of an activation. I'm not sure I would have used a donation fund for such a purpose.

That said, I do find the idea intriguing.

I imagine the majority of people that would donate, would be the same that would gift an activation ---

Also ask that people receiving gifts from the funds donate it back as they could, even in small amounts ---

As Rob asked, there's no way to determine the need of a person asking ---

There can be restrictions:
Only one activation per player (pending them returning the funds to the account)
No one that's activated other premium games on their own (unless donated to fund)

If the account grows large enough without outlays, it could even be used to sponsor a game tourney one night without participating players paying --

I believe this be a good way to get new account holders on a good footing, especially seeing many don't understand that GTO not
exactly free anymore ---

We will have to mull over this one. I would like to get the ability for users to transfer Coins on their own up and running first.
